A message from the head

Welcome, and thank you for considering us

Thank you for looking at Stedokrist. I know choosing a school is not something parents do lightly, so I would rather you came in with a clear picture of who we are.

What we want is fairly simple. Children who can read well, think for themselves and treat people properly. In practice that means work gets marked and handed back, no child is allowed to slip quietly to the back, and when a child is struggling we tell the parents, even when it is not what they want to hear.

We are a Christian school, and we are not shy about it. Our motto comes from Luke 2:52, which says Jesus grew in wisdom and stature, and in favour with God and man. That is exactly what we want for the children here. Families of every faith are welcome, and we will always be open with you about what we teach.

Some of our pupils have been with us since creche, and by the time they reach Primary 6 we know their families well. That is the part of the job I enjoy most. My door is open, so please come and say hello.

Our story

How we started

Stedokrist began as a creche and nursery for working parents who needed somewhere they could trust with their little ones. As those children grew, the parents kept asking us not to let them go, so we added kindergarten and then primary. A child can now join us as a baby and stay until the end of Primary 6.

Faith

We are a non-denominational Christian school. Every week the children gather for devotion, with Bible stories, songs and prayer.

Wisdom

We want children who think for themselves, ask good questions and actually use what they learn.

Character

Honesty, kindness and good manners count here as much as marks. We talk to children the way we would like them to talk to others.

Excellence

Homework comes back marked, tests come back with comments, and effort gets noticed. We expect children to do their best, and we help them get there.

Faith and leadership

Raising children who know Jesus and can lead

Stedokrist is a non-denominational Christian school. More than anything, we want children to leave us knowing Jesus Christ for themselves, and ready to lead, whatever they go on to do.

Faith is part of school life here. Once a week the whole school meets for devotion, and teachers try to show children what honesty, kindness and responsibility look like day to day, not just talk about them.

Leadership starts small. Helping a younger child. Tidying up without being told. Owning up when you get something wrong. As children grow, we hand them a bit more responsibility, because that is how leaders are made.

Families of other faiths are welcome at Stedokrist. Ask us about devotion when you visit, and we will explain exactly how it works.
